Upstate Open Data Day
Open Data Day is a gathering of citizens in cities around the world to write applications, liberate data, create visualizations and publish analyses using open public data to show support for and encourage the adoption open data policies by the world's local, regional and national governments.
We're bringing this to Greenville, SC (hosted at OpenWorks) to explore open data and how local developers can contribute tools, tech, and talks on the topic.
We'll be using Cloudant and Apache CouchDB to manage, MapReduce, and munge open data sources including Comics.org, MusicBrainz.org, OpenLibrary.org, DBPedia (data from Wikipedia), and anything else we can find.
If you know of open civic data in the state or region, please bring those brains so we can hack for some civic good as well!
